The return of Robert Pattinson to Gotham is being postponed. The sequel to the gritty comic book Batman, “The Batman Part II,” in which the actor reprises his role as the Caped Crusader, has been delayed by one year. Its originally scheduled release date of October 3, 2025 has been pushed back to October 2, 2026.
Additionally, some distance will be created between the audience and James Gunn’s Superman, which opens in theaters on July 11, 2025. This movie will inaugurate the first phase of Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios, which will be called “Gods and Monsters.”
Although Reeves’ Batman is not a part of the Gunn universe, everything gets along just well. Andy Muschietti is directing Gunn’s upcoming Batman film, Batman: Brave and the Bold. Batman is portrayed by Robert Pattinson in Reeves’ world. A new actor will play the part in Muschietti’s movie.

Furthermore, Warner Bros., the producing studio responsible for the blockbuster superhero film, has rearranged several other titles on its release schedule. Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, and Peter Sarsgaard will star in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride,” which will replace “The Batman” sequel on October 3, 2025.
Additionally, the mafia drama “Alto Knights,” which features two Robert De Niros, has been moved from November 15, 2024 to March 21, 2025.

The studio additionally incorporated the most recent film by Paul Thomas Anderson into its agenda, designating it for August 8, 2025. The film, which Warner Bros. has dubbed “An Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson Event Film,” is scheduled for release in Imax. The project’s extensive cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Alana Haim, but little is known about it. The latest Anderson film is currently in production in California, the setting for the majority of the director’s films.
“The Batman Part II” is being directed by Matt Reeves again. Beyond Pattinson, it’s unknown who will return for the follow-up. The first movie starred Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Batman’s butler Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the crime lord known as Penguin, and Jeffrey Wright as Gotham City police chief James Gordon. It took a somber (though PG-13) look at Bruce Wayne’s early days as “the world’s greatest detective.” “The Batman” brought about $772 million at the box office worldwide.
