Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Reunite at Oscars 2024 After ‘Twins’!

The 1988 smash film “Twins” with Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger cemented their friendship for eternity. However, the two Hollywood icons shared a rivalry due to parts they played in different motion pictures.

In the “Batman” movie, Schwarzenegger and DeVito both played antagonists. The closest actor to play Batman in one of the movies, Michael Keaton, was targeted by the fictional “Twins” when they reunited on stage at the Oscars.

“Arnold and I are presenting together tonight,” DeVito remarked. “We both attempted to murder Batman,” Schwarzenegger said. Schwarzenegger portrayed Mr. Freeze in “Batman and Robin,” whereas DeVito portrayed The Penguin in “Batman Returns.”

“How did Batman defeat you?” DeVito inquired. “In his defense, he exploited my sole vulnerability,” Schwarzenegger retorted. “Heat?” Devito inquired. “Love,” Schwarzenegger responded.

Arnold Schwarzenegger made a jest that he despised Keaton, and DeVito returned the jest. “He is in the audience,” DeVito announced, indicating Keaton’s presence. Schwarzenegger continued, “You have a lot of nerve showing your face around here.” As the crowd delighted in the interaction between the three seasoned Hollywood actors, Keaton cooperated with the pair.

The Reunite of Two Film Icons

Presented in a charming height contrast, the two film icons reunited side-by-side onstage. This presenter duo operated on multiple levels: First and foremost, this was a reunion of the Twins (1988). Moreover, they shared a sense of consolation regarding how Batman delivered a kick in the posteriors: DeVito was ejected from a window, while Arnold Schwarzenegger had his vulnerability (love) exploited against him.

A flawless villain team-up might have been possible if not for that bothersome Batman, Michael Keaton, who was seated in the audience. Keaton responded to Schwarzenegger’s remark, “You have a lot of nerve showing your face around here,” with a hand gesture that resembled “Come get it.” Thus, tonight was a momentous occasion not only for Christopher Nolan but also for the Batman oeuvre before his direction.

Only one month has passed since Schwarzenegger and DeVito teamed together for a State Farm commercial during the Super Bowl. When Keaton returned to The Flash last year, he said to interviewer Jake’s Takes that it felt “shockingly normal” to don the costume once more. Keaton played Gotham’s protector. It was strange, he remarked. “And I thought, ‘Oh, yeah. Yes, that’s correct. However, as soon as the scenes begin to play, a ton of memories—many of them incredibly fascinating sensory memories—return.”
