The acclaimed children’s program Bluey will return in April with a new episode and its inaugural special, which will also be the series’ first worldwide release. Disney Branded Television, BBC Studios Kids & Family, and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation have scheduled the premiere of the new episode “Ghostbasket” for Sunday, April 7.
Following this, the 28-minute special “The Sign” will debut on Sunday, April 14. The episodes will premiere on ABC Kids in Australia and then be released worldwide on the same day on Disney+, Disney Junior, and Disney Channel in all regions except China and New Zealand.
“The Sign” is the longest episode ever featuring the blue Heeler dog, while “Ghostbasket” is of standard length. Joe Brumm, the series’ creator and author, also wrote the episodes, which Richard Jeffery directed, and Ludo Studio produced. According to Nielsen, the animated sensation was the top series for preschoolers and kids and the second most-streamed series overall last year.
In January, ten new episodes of the series debuted on Disney+ and ranked first in Nielsen’s weekly report with 1.5 billion minutes viewed. The shows will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney Junior between March 25 and April 5. The show, which premiered in Australia in 2018, has received awards and nominations from organizations like AACTA, the International Kids Emmys, the Television Critics Association, BAFTA, and the Critics’ Choice Awards.
