Many Americans are facing financial difficulties due to rising living costs and a shaky job market. Some relief could come in the form of a stimulus check.
Most eligible individuals have already received a $1,400 stimulus check from the federal government. However, reports indicate that over 600,000 eligible taxpayers have not yet received any stimulus funds allocated by Congress.
The $1,400 stimulus check was part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus package aimed at aiding the country’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and recession.
Eligibility for the $1,400 stimulus check was primarily based on income. Individuals earning up to $75,000 annually, heads of households earning up to $112,500, and married couples filing jointly earning up to $150,000 were eligible for the full amount. The payment decreased for higher incomes and was phased out entirely for individuals earning $80,000, heads of households with $120,000, and married couples earning $160,000.
Several states are providing rebate payments and stimulus checks this year, each with its own set of criteria.
