Aaron has found a creative way to make Halloween even more exciting with those light-up jack-o-lanterns! The fact that they were deeply discounted and had a Try Me button powered by coin cells made them a perfect candidate for remote control. By utilizing the temporary two-wire connection to the PCB, [Aaron] was able to remotely control the addressable RGB LEDs inside the jack-o-lanterns. Connecting them through weatherproofed pigtails in the battery compartment ensures their durability.

To control the lights and audio simultaneously, Aaron used a Raspberry Pi 3, an amplifier, and power supplies, all housed in a weatherproof box. Since the Pi 3 cannot multiplex both lights and audio, the addition of a USB sound card was a clever solution.
