AMC Announces Return of ‘The Terror’ with ‘Devil in Silver’ – Third Installment Unveiled!

AMC’s renowned series, The Terror, is returning to the network after more than five years since its last season. The network has greenlit The Terror: Devil in Silver as the third part of the anthology series, following the premiere of Season 2, titled The Terror: Infamy, in 2019.

Scheduled to debut in 2025, the six-episode series is adapted from Victor LaValle’s novel, The Devil in Silver. LaValle, alongside Chris Cantwell, known for his work on AMC’s drama Halt and Catch Fire, is behind the new adaptation.

In 2020, former AMC head Sarah Barnett expressed interest in a third installment of The Terror and was actively considering various themes for development.

The Terror Season 3 Confirmed

The narrative of The Terror: Devil in Silver revolves around Pepper, a blue-collar mover who finds himself unjustly confined to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital, a facility housing society’s outcasts. Amidst challenges from fellow patients and uncovering dark secrets held by the doctors, Pepper must confront the possibility of encountering evil incarnate within the hospital’s walls. The story, originally published in 2013, explores themes of internal and external demons.

Renowned filmmaker Karyn Kusama, known for her work on Jennifer’s Body and Yellowjackets, will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer alongside Cantwell, LaValle, and others.

The first season of The Terror, based on Dan Simmons’ novel, it depicted a doomed voyage on a Victorian-era sailing ship. Season 2, The Terror: Infamy, centered on a malevolent entity within a Japanese internment camp.

Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks expressed excitement about continuing the anthology series, citing its blend of historical events with supernatural elements. He praised the collaboration with Cantwell, LaValle, Kusama, and the production team, anticipating another captivating adaptation of LaValle’s disturbing novel.
