Dreaming Whilst Black is set to make a comeback with its second season.
As announced by the BBC and Showtime in a press release on Monday. The British comedy, produced by A24 and Big Deal Films, will be returning with new episodes.
Co-created, co-written, and co-executive produced by Adjani Salmon, who also plays a role in the series, Dreaming Whilst Black draws inspiration from real-life experiences. Season 1 followed the journey of Kwabena (played by Salmon), an aspiring filmmaker navigating the challenges of pursuing his dreams while dealing with financial struggles, love, and the complexities of reality.
Season 1 premiered on BBC Three in July 2023, followed by releases on Showtime and Paramount+ in September. Filming for Season 2 is scheduled to commence later this year in the United Kingdom.
Adjani Salmon expressed gratitude for the positive reception to the series, stating, “The response to Dreaming Whilst Black has been overwhelmingly loving, raucous and humbling. I’m blessed that we have a chance to entertain da peopledem again. Like season one, our goal is to end up being shared in the Aunties WhatsApp Groups.”
The cast of Season 1 included Dani Moseley, Jo Martin, Demmy Ladipo, Rachel Adedeji, Babirye Bukilwa, Martina Laird, and Roger Griffiths.
