Early Life and Career of Ilhan Omar
Ilhan Omar was raised in Baidoa after being born in Mogadishu, Somalia. Her father and grandfather raised her and her six siblings when her mother passed away when she was just two years old. Due to the civil conflict, the family left Somalia in 1991. They lived in a camp for refugees in Kenya for four years until coming to the US in 1995.
