Wendy Williams, a former presenter of talk shows, has been diagnosed with progressive frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, according to Williams’s representatives.
To “correct inaccurate and hurtful rumors about her health,” the information was issued in a press release on Thursday, according to a statement from Williams’s care team.
The press release states, “As Wendy’s fans are aware, she has previously been candid with the public regarding her medical struggles with Graves’ Disease and lymphedema, in addition to other significant health challenges.”
“Throughout recent years, Wendy’s capacity to process information has been called into question on occasion, and numerous individuals have speculated about her condition, especially since she began to experience verbal lapses, erratic behavior, and trouble comprehending financial transactions.”
Williams was diagnosed with aphasia and dementia by Weill Cornell Medicine in 2023, per her representatives. Personality, communication, and language comprehension are all affected by the condition, as stated by the Mayo Clinic.

Williams is presently subject to guardianship as mandated by the court. This weekend, a Lifetime documentary about Williams, which she and her family co-produced, is scheduled to air.
In addition to advocating for compassion and understanding for Wendy, her representatives stated that they were providing an update on Ms. Williams’s health “to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and provide support to the thousands of others facing similar circumstances.”
