It is said that Jay Leno has asked for guardianship of his wife Mavis because she has Alzheimer’s disease.
TMZ says the former late-night show filed papers on Friday to take over Mavis’s estate as a conservator. A source told the news outlet that Mavis has Alzheimer’s, a disease that gets worse over time and damages memory and other important mental abilities.
People who work for Leno have been asked to respond by The Post. In 1980, Jay, 73, and Mavis, 77, got married. They’ve been married for more than 40 years. They don’t have any kids.
The comic joked on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in 2023 that the key to a long marriage is to marry someone “normal.” He then gave a more serious answer.

“I told you to always marry your conscience,” he said. “Marry the kind person who doesn’t have the flaws you do. They are the person you wish you could be.” That worked out for me, so I think I married the right person.
In November 2022, Jay burned his face badly in a gasoline fire in his shed. He lived through a major motorcycle accident in January 2023 that left him with “a broken collarbone, two busted ribs, and two cracked kneecaps.” He later made a joke about the “new face” he had after the first car crash.
