Although Jimmy Kimmel’s performance at last year’s Oscars appeared to excite viewers, as evidenced by the increase in average viewership of 18.8 million viewers (a 13% rise from previous years) in 2023 Oscars ratings, it appears that fans have had enough of the late-night talk show host this year.

His name began trending on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, shortly after Kimmel concluded his overture, and not for a good reason. In fact, his monologue was met with widespread criticism, with many stating that it was tedious, too lengthy, and simply not funny.
Fans Were Not Pleased With Jimmy Kimmel’s Monologue
As one user published a GIF of Spongebob Squarepants performing on stage while the audience watched, looking bored out of their brains, the hate on X spread. A user said, “Jimmy Kimmel comedy is like waiting in line at a government agency.”
“Somebody get Jimmy Kimmel off that stage,” a different Oscar watcher commented. A person uploaded a picture of the puppy that appeared during Kimmel’s monologue, saying it was the highlight of his introduction.

While Kimmel was talking about Robert Downey Jr.’s Hollywood comeback, the dog entered the monologue and asserted that the actor was at “one of the highest points of his career.”

And I know exactly the guy to play Tim Allen if you ever decide to remake that movie. Well, then, where is he? As the dog was seen on television, Kimmel responded, “Messi.” “Anatomy of a Fall may have had the year’s best performance from him, even though he is a dog.” He depicts an overdose. That’s the most I’ve seen a French actor vomit since Gérard Depardieu.
