Voice Actor, Mark Dodson Dies at 64 of Heart Attack!

At the age of 64, Mark Dodson, a voice actor best remembered for playing Mogwai in the 1984 movie Gremlins, passed away on Saturday. His entertainment agency Stellar Appearances revealed the news of his passing on Facebook. His daughter Ciara reportedly told TMZ that her father passed away this weekend at Horror Con after suffering a heart attack while sleeping.

A Quick Look at Mark Dodson’s Career

Dodson, who was born on February 1, 1960, began his career as a radio producer before taking on the role of Salacious B. Crumb in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in 1983. Over the years, he would go on to provide the voices for numerous films and television series, such as Arachnicide, Darkwing Duck, Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, and Day of the Dead. In addition, he would return to Gremlins to provide multiple Gremlin character voices for the film’s sequel.

In addition, Dodson started doing a lot of voice acting for video games. He also voiced Nathan Arch in Bendy & the Dark Revival and the Architect for One More Level’s Ghostunner (as well as Adam in the first’s Project Hel expansion and 2023’s Ghostrunner II). He also had small roles in Killing Floor 2 and Star Trek Online. In 2022, he even returned to the character of Crumb in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

“Mark contributed his distinct voice and sound to every character and script he touched throughout his work on dozens of films, video games, commercials, and advertisements,” Stellar said. He genuinely loved his fans and was delighted to get to know them at international conventions. Mark is survived by a lovely family, close friends, and devoted followers around.

On Facebook, the Evansville Horror Con, where Dodson was slated to make an appearance, published a tribute.

During this extraordinarily trying time, his family, friends, and supporters are in our deepest sympathy and condolences.
