Stephen Amell, known for his role in Arrow, has been cast as the main character in the NBC drama pilot Suits L.A., which is a spin-off of the original Suits series created and written by Aaron Korsh. The commencement of production is planned for the end of March in Vancouver. Suits L.A. follows the story of Ted Black (Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has transformed his career by representing the most influential clients in Los Angeles.
His company is currently facing a critical situation, and to stay afloat, he must accept a position that he has always despised throughout his career. Ted finds himself amidst a cohort of individuals who evaluate their allegiances to both Ted and one another, all the while unavoidably intertwining their personal and work lives. Simultaneously, as current events unfold, the gradual revelation of past occurrences emerges, which prompts Ted to abandon his cherished relationships and possessions.
Ted Black, portrayed by Amell, is characterized as a captivating and influential individual who prioritizes his desires over those of others. 15 years ago, the ex-New York prosecutor collaborated with his long-time friend, Stuart Lane, to establish a Los Angeles-based law firm that focuses on criminal and entertainment law.
Suits: L.A. is not a reboot or revival, but rather a brand extension similar to the CSI and NCIS franchises. It will introduce new characters in a new location. Korsh serves as an executive producer, along with David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein, who also served as executive producers on the original series. Victoria Mahoney serves as the director and executive producer of the pilot episode. UCP, a subsidiary of Universal Studio Group, functions as the studio.
Amell, renowned for his portrayal of Oliver Queen, the main character in The CW’s Arrow, recently showcased his talent in the popular wrestling drama series Heels on Starz. He will next appear in the Netflix movie Code 8: Part II, for which he also served as a producer. He is represented by UTA, Leverage Management, Sloane, Offer, Weber, and Dern.
