Selena Gomez, an actress and singer, acknowledges that her recent physical transformation is permanent. Throughout the years, Gomez has experienced several significant physical transformations due to the effects of her autoimmune disorder, lupus.
Recently, she shared on Instagram photographs of herself taken years apart, reflecting on the change and stating that she continues to be “proud” of who she is.
“I realized that I would never look like this again,” said Selena Gomez.
Selena Gomez has endured a challenging couple of years in terms of physical transformations, having been compelled to undergo surgery due to a previous lupus diagnosis.
She reflected on these changes in a recent Instagram Story post by sharing two photographs of herself: one from when she was 21 years old and the other from a vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, one year ago.
Gomez was photographed in the first picture sporting a zebra two-piece that showed off her incredibly toned physique. The comment that went with the photo said, “Today, I realized that I will never look like this again,” implying that she was aware that getting back to her previous shape might not be possible.
In the next photo, Gomez looked curvaceous and was wearing a black bottom combo and white top. She captioned this photo, saying that even with the adjustments, she was still “proud” of how she looked.
“I’m not perfect, but I am proud to be who I am,” the writer stated. I forget sometimes that it’s okay to be who I am.
It’s No Secret That Selena Gomez Has Health Concerns
Although her health is a private matter, Gomez has made the decision to be forthright regarding the effects of her condition on her mental and physical health.

She disclosed in a 2021 interview with Elle that her numerous health issues had a significant emotional toll on her.
“Honestly, everything that ought to have brought me down was my lupus, kidney transplant, chemotherapy, mental illness, and very public heartbreaks,” the “Lose You To Love Me” singer told the publication at the time.
“Every time I went through something, I was like, ‘What else?'” she continued. “What else shall I be confronted with?”
Gomez, seeking the positive, noted that she subsequently came to the realization that her difficulties presented her with an opportunity to assist others.
“You will assist others,” Gomez recollected telling herself. “In all honesty, that is precisely what motivated me to persevere. There may have been an occasion when my personal strength was insufficient and I inadvertently caused harm to myself.”
She Is Unaffected by Rude Remarks About Her Weight
Indeed, as the BBC reports, Gomez has persisted in promoting health issues, including lupus.
She hasn’t let criticism of her appearance to bother her, though, and she candidly stated on a TikTok Live last year that she chose to put her attention on staying well and taking her medicine.
“I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself,” Gomez stated to her admirers in that moment. “My medications are important, and I believe that they’re what helps me.”
Fellow lupus survivors have praised Gomez for her efforts, saying it meant a lot to hear the singer speak so candidly about her journey.
Some said, “Having someone like Selena stand up and shout above the rooftops has received full backing from myself and probably the whole lupus community,” while someone else remarked that Gomez’s boldness was “really amazing.”
