More than a month and a half has passed since the death of Food Network celebrity chef Michael Chiarello was verified.
An allergic reaction that resulted in anaphylactic shock and a heart attack ultimately claimed the chef’s life, according to the Napa County Coroner. The first to break the story was TMZ. at that time, Chiarello’s family notified ET that he passed away on Friday, October 7, at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, California.
TMZ reported that after his allergic reaction was treated and he was revived, Chiarello developed hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, a condition caused by a shortage of oxygen and blood flow. Whatever the chef was allergic to is unknown. Nor did he die from a drug overdose; in fact, the coroner discovered cocaine in his system.
