Lady Gaga Responds ‘Hatred is Hatred, and This Kind of Hatred is Violence’ Over Transphobic Hate!

The pop icon wrote, “Hated is hate, and this kind of hatred is violence,” in response to the transphobic backlash against Mulvaney’s photo of the duo. Lady Gaga is expressing her stance following the deluge of anti-LGBTQ+ commentary on her International Women’s Day post featuring actor and TikTok influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

The thirteen-time Grammy winner criticized Mulvaney, who identifies as transgender, for the online backlash she had faced days prior after she posted a photo of the two together on Monday. Furthermore, she denounced the media organizations that distorted the “horrendous” reaction to the image.

Gloria Germanotta Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, wrote on Instagram while resharing Mulvaney’s photo, “I feel it is important to clarify that hatred is hatred, and this type of hatred is violence,” whenever a newspaper reports on hatred but labels it “backlash.”

Gaga has supported the LGBTQ+ community vocally ever since her career began. Despite not being transgender, she expressed in her Monday post how much she admires the community’s “endless grace and inspiration in the face of constant degradation, intolerance, and physical, verbal, and mental violence.”

“May we all take a stand and recognize the intricacy and difficulty of transgender life—which we do not understand, but can try to comprehend and feel empathy for,” wrote Gaga. “I love people too much to let hate speech pass for “backlash.” People ought to be treated better.
