The host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is beginning to think about leaving his late-night ABC residence. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Jimmy Kimmel disclosed that he was having trouble last Wednesday juggling his show’s scripts with his proposal for the 2024 Oscars, which he is expected to host.
I was dozing asleep right there on my computer. “There are times when I think, ‘I can’t wait for my contract to end,'” Kimmel stated in a Tuesday essay. “But then you start saying, ‘Yeah, I miss the fun stuff,’ when I take the summer off or go on strike.”
“I think this is my final contract,” the late-night host continued. It turns out not to be the case every time he believes he’s done with “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, he clarified, which is probably why people are laughing at him.
My contract is still in effect for a little over two years, which seems like a reasonable amount of time. That seems to be sufficient, Kimmel remarked. The late-night host’s contract with ABC was already extended for an additional three years in 2022, allowing the show to run until Season 23.

The request for comment from TheWrap was not immediately answered by a representative for Kimmel. Kimmel has already expressed his opinions regarding retiring. The iconic opening of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” had the late-night host passing George Clooney a bottle of vodka and offering drinks to his crowd.
Kimmel was most renowned for his work on Comedy Central’s “The Man Show” and his radio career before he founded and hosted the show that bears his name. When ABC debuted “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” its own late-night program, in 2003, it all changed.

Kimmel is the most experienced player among his current rivals. It’s not even a competition at age 21. This year marks the tenth anniversary of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” and “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.” The ninth season of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” will premiere in 2024.
Colbert is even outperformed by Kimmel in terms of total hosting years. Colbert has had a late-night talk show for eighteen years total, including the nine years he spent hosting “The Colbert Report.” Even still, that remarkable figure is three years below Kimmel’s.
