Ty Pennington, notwithstanding a personal renovation, is thriving. Since experiencing a health crisis last summer, the 59-year-old HGTV host provided an update on his condition in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I am doing well,” he declared. “You know, the thing that’s fantastic about almost dying is the amount of attention you receive. It is extremely pleasant to feel that much affection. I intend to do another one… I am not joking!”
A few days after attending the Barbie premiere in July, Pennington was admitted to the hospital and underwent surgery to treat an abscess in the posterior region of his pharynx. Further details regarding the events preceding the surgery were disclosed to ET.

“Upon awakening, I was unable to breathe due to an abscess in my throat,” Pennington recalled. “As I descended the mountain to the hospital, all I could think was, ‘Hey, could you please administer a steroid to reduce the swelling?'” The physician then inquires, “What if it’s even more than that?” What would occur if you were to close your eyes and become immobile? My reaction is “Oh my God.” He is adamant that you should be flown to Denver. “When I awake, a tube is lodged in my throat.”

Pennington’s Medical Emergency
Pennington shared some information on Instagram after the medical emergency, accompanied by a photo of himself recuperating in the hospital. “The past week, from the red carpet to the intensive care unit, has been quite eventful!”
“I am currently in good health; however, I am still in the process of recovering,” he wrote about his attendance at the Barbie premiere in Los Angeles. “On Wednesday, I underwent surgery, and I was discharged from the intensive care unit yesterday afternoon… An excellent reminder to LISTEN to the signals your body provides.

Pennington has resumed her full schedule as the host of Rock the Block, which debuted on HGTV on March 5. Furthermore, his deliberate return to form is a result of his experience.
“It made me realize you just don’t know when your timecard’s gonna get pulled, so wake up, live every single day to the fullest,” he commented. “I mean that’s why the 60s is gonna be like time to start doing everything, and that’s what I love about being part of these projects because I think we all want to make sure we’ve done things to be remembered.”
