Larry David was unable to “Curb” on his own. This past week, Elmo and his father Louie went viral. On Thursday, the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star and creator interrupted their talk on the “Today” show. David moved behind the couch where the “Sesame Street” characters were interviewing Al Roker while Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Craig Melvin were tossing it over to him. He then began to squeeze Elmo’s face.
While David also gestured to throw a right hook, the hosts and Louie can be seen becoming agitated. The comic retreated, and the Muppet cried after him, “Mr. Larry, Elmo liked you before!” “Let’s get back on the couch and just talk about how you’re feeling.”
“David, you’ve gone too far this time,” Guthrie reprimanded Larry, who was not in front of the lens. “Somebody had to do it!” was his reply.
Afterwards, David was pushed by Guthrie and Kotb to offer Elmo a sincere apology. The actor eventually gave in and said, “Elmo, I just want to apologize,” but his genuineness was shown when he laughed right after.
“Larry, thank you,” Elmo replied. “Elmo accepts your apology.”
Elmo and Louie appeared on “Today” to discuss his recent viral moment, which began on January 29 with a seemingly harmless X post: “Elmo is merely verifying in!” How is each individual doing?”

As a result, a fraction of the 200 million viewers of the post expressed their deepest emotions towards the fuzzy red creature. On Monday, Sesame Street’s official X account issued tweets containing links to mental health resources due to the intensity of the comments.
The account responded, “Elmo, thank you for checking in with a reminder to pause and focus on our emotions for a moment of mindfulness.” It then provided links to the relevant resources.

After stunning the anchors on Thursday by walking onto NBC’s “Today” show and starting to beat up Elmo, comedian Larry David was asked to apologize to the “Sesame Street” character.

When David emerged off the stage and grabbed Elmo’s face, the hosts were about to transition to Al Roker for a weather update. In addition, David seemed to poke fun at the character while the co-anchors of NBC’s “Today” were yelling.
David left, and Elmo said, “Come back to the couch and let’s talk about how you feel.” David was faced with Anchor Savannah Guthrie, who stated, “Larry, you’ve gone too far this time.”
“It had to be done by someone,” the comic said. Louie, Elmo’s father, was heard saying, “Larry, ask permission before you touch people.”
As Roker began to discuss the weather, he said, “Didn’t see that coming.” During David’s media engagement, Guthrie and anchor Hoda Kotb requested him to apologize to Elmo, “from the heart.”
