Four More Years Of Drama: CBS Renews Young And The Restless – What’s In Store For The Bold And The Beautiful?

CBS has given the venerable soap opera The Young and the Restless a significant new lease on life by extending its run by four years. The XL acquisition guarantees Y&R’s broadcast continuity through the 2027–2028 TV season. There was no mention of The Bold and the Beautiful, the network’s second daytime soap, in the statement.

Similar to Y&R, B&B’s current renewal agreement expires in May, but it also contains an extra option year, a CBS insider tells TVLine. The source also says that B&B’s existence will be guaranteed until the 2024–2025 TV season since the option will be exercised. “It is with great pleasure that we will continue that legacy at CBS,” stated Amy Reichenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, in a statement.

The Bold and the Beautiful

“The Young and the Restless has been a staple of daytime television for over 50 years.” “For more than 50 years, the program has enthralled audiences and maintained its top spot in the ratings thanks to the remarkable performances and stories that the gifted cast and authors create regularly.

We eagerly await whatever inventive new turns they have in store for the people of Genoa City. Y&R has been the top drama series on daytime television for 36 years running, despite dwindling competition (CBS reports that the show is averaging 3.50 million viewers this season). There are now just two soap operas airing on broadcast television: B&B and ABC’s General Hospital.

Bold And The Beautiful

The Young and the Restless has been engrossing viewers in the lives of fictional Genoa City families—the Newmans, Winters, and Abbotts, among others—and examining their rivalries and loves for more than 50 years. The program, which debuted on March 26, 1973, just marked its 50th anniversary in March 2023.

With an average audience of 3.50 million this season, The Young and the Restless has maintained its position as the top daytime drama for 36 years running, according to CBS. In addition, it is the most popular noon show among black viewers.
