Emmy-winning series creator Lee Sung Jin doesn’t seem to be ready to call it quits on his feud just yet. Deadline claims that the A24-produced series, which consistently wins accolades in the Limited Series category, might not be as limited as it first appears.
Screenplays for a second season of the program are reportedly either written or nearly finished, with Netflix hoping to start production in late summer or fall, though nothing has been formally confirmed as of this writing.
Though it’s simple to become obsessed with the fact that nobody appears to understand what the term “limited” means these days, taking a peek at the prospective cast offers a welcome diversion.

According to Deadline, Charles Melton (May December), Anne Hathaway, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) are in talks to be in the program. If this is a reality, such a star-studded cast would essentially give Lee the freedom to do whatever the hell he wants for ten episodes.
According to a very preliminary source, season two could be tentatively named Beef: Bring Your Spouse To Work Day. Early screenplays appear to revolve around a dispute between two couples, one played by Melton and Spaeny and the other by Gyllenhaal and Hathaway. If season one is any indication, it will most likely end badly for everyone involved, including some who were not involved at all.
Possibility of Returning of Cast From Previous Season
While it appears that season two will not feature any of the characters from season one (we’ll miss Ali Wong, Steven Yeun, and the rest), there will be some conceptual connections between the two. “On the surface, the narrative of Beef is always conflict and separation. But separateness manifests itself in a variety of ways,” Lee stated of some of his early tale concepts (via The Hollywood Reporter).

“Season 1 was about strangers, yet separateness may occur in the most personal settings, such as the workplace or family… I believe Beef will always have something boiling underneath, but in terms of what the other layers could be, I’d have to take some time to see what wants to come out.”
