Since October 25, 2023, James Michael Johnson, an American jurist and politician, has presided over the United States House of Representatives as the 56th speaker. He is currently serving his fourth term in the House as a Republican representative for the 4th congressional district of Louisiana, a party he actively supports.

Johnson is a graduate of Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center. Before embarking on a political career, he practiced law privately and for Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).

In a fire at a cold storage facility in 1984, Pat Johnson suffered severe injuries and became paralyzed while working for the Shreveport Fire Department.
