Amy Schumer has received a formal diagnosis of Cushing syndrome. In an appearance on Jessica Yellin’s “News Not Noise” newsletter, the comedian disclosed the health condition, stating that the prognosis has “reborn” her in light of the recent discussion surrounding her puffier visage.
According to the Mayo Clinic, prolonged elevation of cortisol (the principal stress hormone) levels within the body is the cause of Cushing syndrome. Potential symptoms encompass hypertension, osteoporosis, and weight gain. Pharmacological intervention, radiation therapy, or surgical procedure may constitute treatment modalities.
She revealed that she discovered her ailment during the promotion of the second season of her program Life & Beth. Amidst her numerous press appearances, admirers began to speculate as to the cause of her “puffier face,” frequently inquiring about her health in the remarks section of social media platforms.
“At the same time that I was doing press for my Hulu show, I spent four hours at a time in MRI machines, having my veins shut down from the amount of blood drawn, and worrying that I might not live to see my son grow up,” she explained. It was therefore the utmost relief to learn that I have a self-limiting form of Cushing’s disease and that I am in good health.

Schrumer stated that the increase in concern (and criticism) regarding her health prompted her to examine her health in greater detail, whereas typically the opposite is true when the internet “chimes in” on her appearance.
“The past two weeks have been insane for my family and I,” she explained. “In addition to health concerns, I was compelled to appear on camera while the internet provided commentary.” However, I give thanks to God for that. “Because I realized that something was amiss in that manner.”
Schumer Publicly Discloses Her Health Condition
Schumer stated that she chose to reveal her condition to the public in order to “advocate for women’s health.”

“I have personally experienced and observed the shaming and criticism of our ever-changing bodies for an extended period,” stated Schumer. “I deeply desire for women to embrace self-love and exhibit unwavering determination in their struggle for personal health within a system that often disregards their concerns.”
Initially, earlier this month, Schumer addressed the remarks regarding the apparent puffiness of her face after her appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The View. “I appreciate each and everyone’s feedback regarding my face tremendously!” Schumer used Instagram to post. “For nearly two decades, commentary and consideration regarding my appearance have been appreciated by me, just as they are by every woman. Your observation that it is currently puffier than usual is accurate.
She further stated in her initial statement that she has endometriosis and that “at the moment, I am fine, despite some hormonal and medical issues that are occurring in my life.”
