Dan Harmon, the creator of Community, is nearing completion of the movie component of his ‘Six Seasons and a Movie’ prediction. Harmon confirmed that a script is in progress, following Donald Glover’s statement. Harmon mentioned that he is close to completing the script for the eagerly awaited feature, which will premiere on NBCU’s Peacock streaming service.
Harmon expressed that he has been enthusiastic about his writing process, but it has led to intense emotional moments, including breakdowns and tears when contemplating the show and its characters. Harmon is collaborating with Andrew Guest on the script, and the movie will feature the original cast members: Glover as Troy Barnes, Alison Brie as Annie Edison, Gillian Jacobs as Britta Perry, Joel McHale as Jeff Winger, and Ken Jeong as Ben Chang.
The movie’s production will now deliver on the show’s commitment to “Six Seasons and a Movie,” a witty remark from the series’ initial seasons that has sparked a fervent fan campaign for the film. Peacock and Sony Pictures TV, who announced the approval in September, characterized the discussions for Peacock to acquire the movie as highly competitive.
Peacock has acquired non-exclusive rights to the complete six-season collection of Community, which is currently accessible on Netflix and Hulu. McHale is one of the executive producers of the Peacock-exclusive film, along with Harmon, Guest, Russ Krasnoff, and Gary Foster.
Peacock and Sony Pictures TV, who announced the approval in September, characterized the discussions for Peacock to obtain the movie as “intensely competitive.” Peacock has obtained non-exclusive rights to the entire six-season “Community” library as part of the agreement, which is also available on Netflix and Hulu.
McHale is also an executive producer of the Peacock-exclusive film, along with Harmon, Guest, Russ Krasnoff, and Gary Foster. The sitcom tracks a varied group of students at a community college as they deal with ridiculous scenarios and establish improbable friendships. “Community” aired on NBC for five seasons out of the show’s total six seasons, with the last season being broadcast on Yahoo! Screen, a brief-lived streaming platform.
