If you’re waiting for your February Social Security check, it may arrive either this upcoming week or the following week, depending on factors like your date of birth and when you first began receiving payments. Here’s a breakdown:
When Will My February Social Security Check Arrive?
- Feb. 2: Payments for individuals who’ve been receiving Social Security since before May 1997.
- Feb. 14: Payments for individuals whose birthdays fall between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- Feb. 21: Payments for individuals whose birthdays fall between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- Feb. 28: Payments for individuals whose birthdays fall between the 21st and 31st of any month.
How Is My Social Security Payment Date Determined?
The Social Security Administration typically sends payments on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month, depending on your birthday:
- If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month, your payment will be sent on the second Wednesday.
- If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of the month, your payment will be sent on the third Wednesday.
- If your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of the month, your payment will be sent on the fourth Wednesday.

If you began receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997, or if you received both Social Security and SSI, your payment schedule differs. Instead of Wednesdays, you’ll receive your Social Security payment on the third day of each month and your SSI on the first day of each month.
Payment dates may change if the first or third day of the month falls on a weekend or holiday. For example, if Feb. 3 falls on a weekend, Social Security recipients will receive their February payments a day earlier, on Feb. 2.
