It published popular conspiracy theories, unfounded and usually obscene attacks on Democratic leaders, and bogus accusations of liberal causes. The website gained notoriety for spreading sexist and racial stereotypes. 2020 saw Carlson give Patel his ownership share of The Daily Caller.

Tucker Carlson and Tonight

Tucker Carlson Soon after Trump was elected president of the United States in November 2016, Tonight made its premiere. A large number of Trump’s first beliefs and ideas, including his rejection of the existence of climate change, his intention to erect a wall along the border between the United States and Mexico, and his ban on immigration from the majority of Muslim nations, were endorsed by Carlson, but not all of them.

Carlson also agreed with Trump’s evident respect and fondness for autocratic leaders in other nations, especially Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. Carlson therefore defended Trump against charges that his campaign in 2016 colluded with Russian efforts to rig the election in his favor and that Trump impeded the U.S. Justice Department’s probe into his campaign’s ties to Russia.
