Shannen Doherty maintains a positive outlook regarding her battle against stage 4 breast cancer. Since her initial diagnosis in 2015, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum has openly discussed the challenges she has faced. However, on Monday, she disclosed on her podcast “Let’s Be Clear” that her recent treatment is progressing favorably, and it may even be a “miracle.”
Shannen Doherty stated in the episode, “I’m not going to say what it is, but I’m on a new cancer infusion. After four treatments, we didn’t see a difference, and everyone wanted me to switch. I was just like, ‘We’re going to keep going with this and see,'”
The actor disclosed her cancer had perilously metastasized to her brain a year ago. She stated on Monday, “And indeed, after the sixth or seventh treatment, we observed it truly breach the blood-brain barrier.” “Vouch for that as a miracle?” Yeah. That precisely at this moment is a marvel in my book. “That I essentially determined by rolling the dice and proposing, ‘Let’s proceed.'”
A membrane of cells called the blood-brain barrier prevents pathogens from penetrating the brain. Scientists are currently investigating the mechanisms by which cancer cells may enter the brain after occasionally traversing the barrier, as reported by the National Institutes of Health.

The actor from “Charmed” stated that she avoids making comparisons between her voyage and those of others. Monday on the podcast, her radiation oncologist, Dr. Amin Mirhadi, stated that he has previously defeated similar malignancies, including those that are typically fatal.
Doherty hypothesized that this most recent development represents “a miracle in which perhaps God intervened” in her ordeal and said, “Allow her a break.” Additionally, the 52-year-old stated that individuals frequently seek miracles “in the wrong places.”
Doherty’s Health Journey
In 2015, Doherty received her initial diagnosis of breast cancer. In 2017, she experienced remission; however, the cancer came back in 2019. After receiving a stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis, she disclosed on Instagram in June that the disease had progressed to her brain. She had radiation therapy and had the brain tumor surgically removed.

Doherty disclosed in November that the disease had spread to her bones, but she was still receiving therapy and looking to enroll in research trials. She launched “Let’s Be Clear” as a “live memoir podcast” one month later.
Beyond Health Issues Doherty’s Actual Difficulties in Life
In addition to health concerns, Doherty has also endured personal difficulties. She filed for divorce from Kurt Iswarienko in April of last year, following eleven years of marriage. Just before undergoing brain surgery, she discovered that her spouse had allegedly been unfaithful.
Doherty’s cancer returned in 2019 after undergoing remission in 2017. She continued to express gratitude to “God” for her life despite the November discovery that the disease had progressed to her bones.
Doherty stated on Monday, “Listen, I could die today, I could die in twenty years, I don’t know.”
“I am on the verge of death if I step outside my home… “Alternatively, I could succumb to cancer,” she further elaborated. “However, all I can do is approach each day with optimism and a sense of gratitude, thinking, ‘Wow, I get to wake up another day; what can I do?'”
