Medical Examiner Opened Up on the Death Cause of Tyler Christopher!

Officials have provided information regarding the cause of death of Tyler Christopher. In a report obtained by TMZ on January 26, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office stated that the soap opera star died of suffocation caused by the position of his body while under the influence of alcohol.

In the document, the official cause of death for Tyler was identified as positional asphyxia resulting from acute alcohol intoxication, with coronary artery atherosclerosis—a plaque accumulation in his arteries—also cited as a contributing factor.

The report indicates that his demise has been classified as an accident. Tyler’s former General Hospital co-star Maurice Benard stated prior to the coroner’s report that the actor passed away on October 31 at the age of 50 from heart-related complications.

“A cardiac event this morning in Tyler’s San Diego apartment caused his death,” he wrote in an Instagram post dated October 31. “Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting.”

Noting that the actor was a “sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him,” Maurice went on, “Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and addiction treatment who freely spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol.”
