Who Are Crowley and Aziraphale?
Armageddon is the culmination of the last conflict between good and evil, which the powers of Hell and Heaven have been preparing for since the beginning of time. The Last War will take place on Earth, where the Creator’s favorite children, the humans, reside, while angels and demons are destined to battle it out on the battlefield.
Heaven and Hell resolve to keep an eye on humanity once Adam and Eve enter the Garden of Eden since they are important to God’s purposes. The angel assigned to watch over people and try to nudge them in the direction of goodness is named Aziraphale. Conversely, Crowley travels to Earth in order to cause havoc. For example, Crowley transforms into a snake and persuades Eve to eat the forbidden fruit, which causes humanity to be expelled from Eden. It is at this point that he meets Aziraphale, the angel.
Aziraphale and Crowley become closer to one another with time. They develop a craving for everything human-related because they are the representatives of Heaven and Hell on Earth. Even though other angels and demons view them as strange, they may rely on one another for understanding and support.
For this reason, despite being on different teams in the biblical game, Aziraphale and Crowley fall in love with one another over the course of millennia in the fantasy series Good Omens. The angel and the demon team together to stop the Apocalypse, which threatens to destroy Aziraphale and Crowley’s house and blossoming relationship, because of their love for Earth and each other.

Unaware of the true Antichrist’s whereabouts, Crowley and Aziraphale create a deal wherein they take on the role of the diplomat’s godfathers, guiding him in the direction of good and evil. Crowley and Aziraphale think they can assist the Antichrist in growing up to be a normal child by combining their demonic and angelic energies, adding good and evil to zero. Theoretically, that would prevent Armageddon without arousing suspicion in Heaven or Hell. Regretfully, they guarded the wrong child for eleven years, allowing little Adam (Sam Taylor Buck) to have a typical upbringing.

While the Powers of Hell dispatch a Hellhound to awaken the powers of the Antichrist, Aziraphale and Crowley are left in the dark. After that, Adam begins to realize his goals of raising Atlantis from the ocean floor and turning nuclear reactors into lemon candies. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are also called to Tadfield Airbase, one by one, with the intention of launching nuclear bombs worldwide. Luckily, Adam decides he doesn’t want power if it means losing the ones he loves after realizing he is the Antichrist. To avert Armageddon, Adam instead calls his allies to Tadfield.
The airbase is the scene of the last skirmish. Following their victory over War (Mireille Enos), Famine (Yusuf Gatewood), and Pollution (Lourdes Faberes), Adam and his allies bid farewell to Death (Jamie Hill/Brian Cox). Two humans—the descendant of a witch who foresaw the end of the world, Anathema Device (Adria Arjona), and the descendent of a witchfinder, Newton Pulsifer (Jack Whitehall)—manage to turn off the Airbase computers and stop the missile from taking off as the children battle the Horsemen.
The leaders of Heaven and Hell descend to Earth after Armageddon is averted, pressuring Adam Young to revive Apocalypse. But when Aziraphale wonders if God’s unfathomable plan, which may theoretically be avoided, is the same as God’s Great Plan for Armageddon, they choose to back down. Subsequently, Satan resolves to travel to Earth in order to coerce his son into destroying the planet.
Adam Young is supported by Crowley and Aziraphale as he faces his father and uses his abilities to drive the king of Hell back to his original location. Adam also recreates the universe precisely as it existed before the awakening of his powers. Everyone’s happily ever after, with the exception of Crowley and Aziraphale, who are accused of treachery by both Heaven and Hell.

After Armageddon, What Happens to Crowley and Aziraphale?
Good Omens Season 1 concludes with Aziraphale and Crowley being returned to Heaven and Hell, respectively. They have both been given the death penalty for their crimes. The only thing that can kill an angel is Hellfire, which is what Aziraphale is compelled to enter. Crowley believes that the demon will dissolve in a tub of holy water as retribution. Everyone is shocked to learn that Aziraphale and Crowley survive their executions. Angels and devils decide to leave the couple alone on Earth, both in Heaven and Hell. Interfering with beings that grew so close together that they took on each other’s powers would be too risky.
Before being arrested, Aziraphale and Crowley had assumed the identities of one another, as we will soon see, in order to deceive the powers of Heaven and Hell. It wasn’t very difficult for them to impersonate one another because they knew each other so well. And just like that, Aziraphale and Crowley purchase their freedom from biblical obligations while simultaneously aiding in averting Armageddon. That implies that Good Omens’ second season will definitely disclose how the two have been living alone on Earth.
