Sam Witwer has become an icon of the Star Wars universe. Fans adore him for his participation in the Star Wars franchise as Starkiller in The Force Unleashed and Darth Maul in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. In addition to his voice work on these iconic characters, he frequently voices or acts in live-action television series.
Many of us now expect him to appear in every Star Wars–themed television program. It’s good to see Sam involved in some capacity with Star Wars, whether he’s providing additional voices or wearing prosthetics as a background Rhodian.
With the announcement of the Ahsoka series, fans immediately began searching for roles for Sam Witwer and other fan favorites such as Ashley Eckstein in this Disney+ series. Unfortunately, Ashley will not be featured in season 1. We still hold out hope that she will at least make a cameo appearance in season 2.

It was unclear whether Sam Witwer was involved with the Ahsoka initiative. That did not prevent fans from speculating about the characters he may portray. One popular notion had Sam assuming the role of Galen Marek, Starkiller, from the video game series The Force Unleashed, but as the Inquisitor Marrok.
Simple letter and name play; it is understandable why fans would consider this a possibility. Coupled with the large shroud of mystery enveloping Marrok’s identity, there was ample room for Sam to find a place in the Ahsoka show.
Sam was recently interviewed during a live stream broadcast about his involvement with Ahsoka, and he had the following to say:
“I can’t really discuss such topics, with the exception of a show that I watched and enjoyed.” I am not aware of the regulations. I was about to say that I didn’t work on Ahsoka, but I did, so I don’t believe I can say anything other than that I’m proud of Dave [Filoni].”

What Does That All Mean?
In all honesty, this admission by Sam has two implications for fans:
- We are thrilled to learn that Sam Witwer IS a member of the Ahsoka cast.
- We are back to square one, as we are unsure of his involvement.
So we are back to speculating about his identity and function. Sam is neither credited nor uncredited for the Ahsoka series on IMDb. It is possible that IMDb‘s listings are inaccurate, which is not beyond the scope of possibility, or that Sam’s involvement has not yet aired, which leads to further speculation.
What role will Sam play? Is he one of the supplementary voices? Will he reprise his role as a peripheral Rhodian from The Book of Boba Fett? Time alone will tell. Sam reveals only that he has interacted with Ahsoka, but not to what extent. So while we anxiously await a new episode, we can continue to speculate about his appearance and characters.
